Vlora is an old town founded in the sixth century BC, originally known as Aulona. Vlora is located in a beautiful place, opposite the Karaburun peninsula and Sazan Island and surrounded by beaches and rocky sand.
Highly recommended to visit is the Muradije Mosque, the only work left in Albania by the famous architect Sinan the Great, built in 1542. At the top of the hill overlooking the city is the religious spot of Kuzum Baba.
Vlora is the starting point of the Albanian Riviera and is one of the most frequented areas of Albanian tourism "Sun and Sea". Located in this region are the archeological parks Orikum and Amantia, and the Llogara National Park.
