Meet at your hotel and departure to Berat.

Berat is one of the oldest cities of Albania, also part of UNESCO heritage since 2008. It is famous for its characteristic architecture, which has also given to the city the name ‘the city of 1001 windows’.

Berat City was established in the 3rd century B.C by an Illyrian tribe of central Albania with a protective castle, it was also known as the fortified city of Antipatrea. In 1417 the town was occupied by the Ottomans.

Berat comprise a unique style of architecture with influences from several civilizations that have managed to coexist for centuries throughout the history. Like many cities in Albania, Berat comprises an old fortified city filled with churches and mosques painted with grandiose wealth of visible murals and frescos.

Berat is situated at the foot of Tomorri Mountain and on the shores of Osum River. Built in a white color on a green slope with the river at its feet, it offers a striking view. It is famous for its white-washed houses with their many windows which seem to have been built on top of each other.
